JOHN BUTLER TRIO APRIL 9

The John Butler Trio stops in Honolulu on its way to the Coachella Festival in California, after a tour of Australia and Japan.

The concert is at 8 p.m. April 9, a Wednesday, at the Pipeline Cafe. Tickets are $20 general, $35 Tiki Lounge. 877-750-4400, www.ticketmaster.com.

The band's latest CD is "Grand National." Butler's musical influences include Celtic folk, Indian ragas, reggae and blues — blended into tunes with socially conscious messages.

BACK TO THE '70S

Flash back to the 1970s at The '70s Nightclub Reunion IV, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. May 10 at the Ala Moana Hotel's Hibiscus Ballroom.

Plan to dance the night away with bands Greenwood, New Experience, White Light, Power Point and Glass Candle providing the sounds.

Reserved tickets are $40, with seating in the main ballroom; $35 open tickets, for standing-room-only and seating in adjacent areas. A nachos bar is incuded.
